I was in and out of the hospital between Saturday and Tuesday. 'Twas not fun. Here's a detailed narrative, pasted from my Facebook!
I originally went there Sunday night, because of vomiting, and they gave me something for the nausea and sent me home. Unfortunately the medicine just made me dry-heave all night long, so I went back late Monday morning, and they hooked me up to an IV in case of dehydration, took X-rays, drew blood, and all that good stuff. I stayed overnight, and most of today, and then came back around 3:00. The doctors said my constant vomiting was because I was severely stressed (it was actually a flare-up of my IBS.)
-hospital food isn't all that bad
-apparently random groups of men like to gather outside of patients' doors and sing Christian hymns loudly and off-key
-the nurses more or less ignore you if you aren't dying, so you have to get up and wander the halls in your vomit-encrusted clothes to find someone if you DO need help
-the nurses also like to wake you up at 5 AM and draw blood
So, that was the extent of my stay at the hospital. But I'm better now. And dreading make-up work.

I'm sitting in the costume shop (which is where I work), and flipping through pattern magazines. I wish I could sew so I could make frilly, gauzy confections to wear... Current Mood: creative

So, because I have no lezzie friends, I've joined girldates.net. It's super-fun, but makes me miss home even more, because of all the hot girls from Charlotte. Maybe I should sneak home next weekend and go clubbing. I miss clubbing. There are no clubs in Banner Elk. Current Mood: blah

I'm bored, and have nothing else to do, so I'm updating. And I wish I had something terribly intriguing to say, but apparently I don't. I'll write more when I do.

Okay, so maybe not once a week...you think I'd update more, since I'm on LJ every day. But I guess not.
Random note: I want a girlfriend! My college sucks because it's so tiny, and all the other lesbians are sports majors, and they all date each other! And here I am, this dinky lil' PA major, all alone! Okay, enough of the self-pity.
So, I'm really excited that I'll be home (Charlotte, NC) in a week and a half for A WHOLE MONTH! It'll be so nice to be back in a civilized city, that boasts more than ten stores! I'm going to die of happiness!
Oh, I'm getting another roommate. If she ever turns in her paperwork so she can move in. Which she'd better, or else I'm gonna chew her out.
Um...I can't think of anything else to rant about, so I'm going to bed. 'Til next time.

Sorry it's been so long! I've been a lazy bum when it comes to updating my journal. But I promise here and now, I will blab at least once a week!

|Back in School...Ugh.
It's been so long since I've updated. I'm sorry! ANYWAY, I'm back in school, this time as a sophomore. W00t! And I have the best roommate; her username on here's innocent_siren. I <3 her! We're both so crazy, but we blame it on the fact that we're both PA kids. The one thing that I don't like so much about her is that she makes out with her boyfriend when I walk out of the room. But in all honesty, if I had a girlfriend, I'd prob'ly do the same thing. Plus, her boyfriend's a sweetheart, so it's okay.
OH! This year I'm the collaborator of SPECTRUM, which is the Gay/Straight Alliance here. I'm going to work my butt off to make sure the club doesn't die like it did last year. We're gonna have fun! I COMMAND THE FUN!
So, I think I'm all caught up on past events. The only thing I did all summer was work, so I can go to London this summer, but I still don't have enough money, so I'll have to go bug Financial Aid about lending me money, since I get six credit hours if I go on the trip.
On another, unrelated note, I now love Mabel Lucie Atwell and her illustrations. They're so sweet! You should look her up if you have a sec.
Hopefully, I'll update more regularly this year. Keep your fingers crossed! (Actually, don't, cuz if you do that means you have no life. At all. You suck at life.) Current Mood: bored

It is now officially May Day!
May Day is my favorite holiday. I love it because of the woodland and fertility connotations, as well as the Robin Hood figures that are a part of the festivities in the United Kingdom.
So, go celebrate May Day however you want, be it washing your face in the morning dew, dancing around a Maypole, or even going for a walk in the woods to appreciate the beauty of the rebirth of the Earth after another bitter winter!
Happy Maying, everyone~!

|girls, girls, girls
So yeah, I've figured the only way to win in my bizzare little love triangle is to tell both girls how I feel. Honesty is the best policy, after all. Ha ha ha. I know at least one person will be hurt by this, and that is why I'm stalling. But I'll talk to both before this Thursday.

Okay, I have a problem. I like two girls, but I like one more than the other. But she's leaving for Virginia next year. And the other one's really nice, but I like the other girl more--a LOT more. But now I'm wondering if it's pointless to pursue her, you know? And maybe I should give the other girl a chance, because she's really nice, and really likes me. But she's also part of the "pot/drinking/party" crowd, and I'm not. And the other girl (the one I REALLY like) is...just...so perfect. But I don't know if she would ever want to date me, and the other one (who's "straight," or so she says), really likes me.
Relationships are so annoying. Rawr.

I really should be working on my stories. Or homework (yeah, right). But I'm reading fairy tales and wondering when I'll get a girlfriend. ;_;

My new favorite proverb is an old Chinese saying:
"When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other."
Isn't that neat?

Listening to my favorite song right now. It's called "Gessekai", and it's from the anime NIGHTWALKER. I am uber-happy that I finally have it!

|lesbian fairy tales
The only two fairy tales that I semi-qualify as "femmeslash-y" are Andersen's "The Snow Queen" and Andrew Lang's "The Girl who pretended to be a Boy." I would have loved Lang's story so much more if the princess didn't turn into a man at the end, but had still married Iliane.

|Secondary Characters in THE SNOW QUEEN
I've always loved the secondary characters in Hans Christian Andersen's THE SNOW QUEEN. They're so interesting: much more than Gerda and Kay.
The Flower Woman: I feel so sorry for her. She only has her flowers to keep her company. As a child, I wanted to go live with her, and sleep in the bed with violet-stuffed pillows.
The Crow and His Fiancee: WHY DID THE CROW DIE!? He was so cool. And how does the Little Robber-Girl know about his death at the end of the story? She had never met him.
The Prince and Princess: I wanted to know why the dreams of the people in the palace were projected onto the walls of the castle. I thought that was so creepy-awesome.
The Little Robber-Girl: I want to marry the Little Robber-Girl. The relationship between her and Gerda is probably one of the oddest in any fairy tale that I've read. They aren't friends, because the Little Robber-Girl sees Gerda as another of her "pets." And yet there is something deeper in their relationship. The Little Robber-Girl lets Gerda go in an act of selflessness, gives her her pet reindeer to carry her to the Snow Queen's palace. I love the comparison of her character to Gerda's. And I love ranting about their relationship, odd as it is. It is eerily easy to slash them, because it is more or less cannon.
The Lapland Woman and the Finland Woman: They rock. The Finland Woman can bind the winds with a piece of twine. I want to be able to do that. Yay for strong female characters.
So, that's the end of the secondary characters rant. I left out the reindeer, Ba, didn't I? Oh, well, he has a bigger role than most of the characters on the list, so he doesn't get a paragraph.
On a random tangent...does anyone else find it interesting that the Snow Queen's sled is driven by chickens?
